For modern Pagans, Druids, and Witches, St. Patrick’s Day is an opportunity to honor the practitioners who came before us and reclaim our spiritual heritage. Rather than accepting the holiday’s colonial legacy, we can use it as a time for remembrance, reflection, and renewal.

By reclaiming this day and aligning it with Ostara, the Spring Equinox, we honor themes of rebirth, growth, and balance. These concepts are deeply rooted in pre-Christian traditions. Ostara, celebrated around March 20th, marks the return of the sun’s warmth and the fertility of the land, reminding us that even in times of suppression, life finds a way to persist.

Honoring this time means embracing the resilience of the old ways, recognizing the traditions that have survived through storytelling, ritual, and practice. Whether through meditation, tending to sacred spaces, or reviving ancestral customs, we can restore the balance that was once disrupted and walk forward in spiritual sovereignty.
